The mat sequence of Joseph Pilates
Spring 2025 Program
The classical exercises of Contrology infused with modern exercise science and best practices
75 hours - Full sequence with in-depth coverage of anatomy and alignment, breath physiology, and teaching methodology
This is not your average weekend training.
We’ll spend time together learning about who Joseph Pilates was, what he offered, and why, more than 50 years after his death, we can’t get enough of it. We’ll cover the basic, intermediate, and advanced exercises of the mat series to offer a comprehensive overview of not only how to establish them into your own body and practice but also how to make them accessible to all bodies.
Accessibility requires a developed understanding of how bodies move and compensate, of how they adjust and evolve. This means that on top of the modality itself we will also study anatomy and physiology, the most up-to-date exercise science, and discuss real bodies and how to cater to their needs.
This will be invaluable to ANYONE who teaches movement.
It’s not enough to just practice each exercise a few times and call it good. This is an opportunity to learn, integrate, learn more, integrate more - a continual spiral that will lead you towards a rich understanding of not only the classical mat repertoire, but the full (as much as we can uncover) history of the man.
This is about making Pilates a lifelong journey, and an intimate relationship with your practice ensures that should you choose to teach you can speak from a wealth of knowledge and experience.
